Addressing Geo-Energy and Geo-Environmental Problems

Involving coupled Thermo-Hydro-(bio)Chemo-Mechanics in geomaterials and geo-processes across scales

Mission

Our group aims at finding solutions for fundamental questions arising in the cross-disciplinary area of Geomechanics, Geophysics and the Geo-environment, integrating mathematical modeling, numerical implementation, and experiments. We use our findings to address real-world challenges, towards a better understanding of the coupled Multiphysics processes in e.g., carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS), enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), unconventional shale hydrocarbon recovery, emerging geomaterials for sustainability and resilience, as well as intriguing patterns formed in geological materials under geothermal environment.
